#ABOUT
Described by The Guardian as “a phenomenal, dynamic, imaginative. An outstanding pianist.”
Abel Marcel has been praised by the Music Republic Magazine as “equally at home with the european and american jazz traditions as he is with his own cuban roots."
Abel’s musical language stands for preserving a fresh and thrilling exploration on firm foundations deeply rooted in the melodic and rhythmic traditions of the Caribbean and Latin American, the French Les Six, and the lineage of composer-pianists like Bach, Mozart and Chopin or Ignacio Cervantes, Tania León and Ernesto Lecuona.
A tireless collaborator, and dance lover he has written music for the choreographers Jan Linkens, Judith Sanchez Ruiz and the ballet star Carlos Acosta, remixed recordings of Theodor Milkov and Duel Chromatic, and fused his creative universe with musicians such as Jonas Johansen, Lucas van Merwijk, Yuri Buenaventura, David Murray, Changuito, Saul Williams, Nasheet Waits, Maite Hontelé, Lilian Viera, David Binney, Owen Hart Jr and Alejandro Rodriguez.
